Agreement with the Handbook
Each family must read the handbook in its entirely and sign the Student and Parental Agreement indicating the family’s support of the policies stated in the Handbook, and their agreement to abide by those policies, before SCA will consider admitting them and their student(s).

Assessment
Summit evaluates student candidates on the basis of their character, academic record, and behavioral background. Academic evaluation is conducted by reviewing a student’s most recent report card, his/her academic transcripts, and current scores within the previous academic year from nationally normed achievement and aptitude tests (see below). Students entering 1st through 12th grades must provide these items. Parents must provide SCA with current legal documents when a court of law has established custodial rights.

Testing
Students applying for Kindergarten through 1st grade are tested using a nationally normed developmental readiness test. An entering student’s developmental age should meet the following criteria:
Minimal Preferred
Kindergarten5.05.5
First Grade6.06.5

Students applying for 2nd through 12th grades are tested using a nationally normed achievement and aptitude test. If applicants have a current nationally normed test from a previous school, they may present the results in lieu of testing. If additional testing is needed, a testing time will be established. A percentile score of 51 or above in both reading and math is expected for admission.

Interview and Disclosure
A family interview for all prospective families is the final step in the admission process for new families. It is at this time that the Administration seeks to understand whether these families are people of faith who desire SCA to teach their children within the guidelines of its Statement of Faith. To serve the best interest of the school, Summit Christian Academy’s Administration reserves the right to deny admission to any applicant. SCA’s biblical role is to work in partnership with the home to mold students in Christ likeness. On occasion, the atmosphere or conduct within a particular home may be in opposition to the biblical lifestyle the school teaches.
