Welcome Elementary Families

Summit Christian Academy provides a wonderful atmosphere for elementary students to learn and grow. Students are taught by loving teachers who teach from a Christian worldview. Our teachers work to build a strong foundation for our students to succeed academically. Our curriculum has been designed to challenge, but not frustrate our students. Alignment across all grade levels ensures a program that provides a solid base upon which new skills and concepts can be built.

At the heart of all we do is the sincere desire that our students develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It is through their identity in Christ that our students are able to understand and appreciate the various gifts within the body of Christ.

The elementary program is focused on academic achievement from a Christian worldview, but there are many other aspects built into our program to meet the needs of the whole child. Students are able to participate in seven specials a week. They participate in physical education twice, and once a week they attend music, art, library, computer, and Impact Education. Character development and service leadership are core values that are implemented throughout the classrooms according to age and responsibility.

Elementary ranges from Pre-Kindergarten to fifth grade. Our fifth grade students are able to demonstrate leadership by leading in chapel each week. They also serve on safety patrol and empty recycling bins. All elementary classes have been partnered with another class to share "buddy" time.  During this time, the older students are able to spend time praying, encouraging, and reading to the younger students.

At Summit Christian Academy, we have a great group of students who have a heart to serve others. We welcome families who want to partner with us in our goal to raise students who are able to impact their world for Jesus Christ.

AR Program Overview

Summit Christian Academy encourages students to become lifelong learners. The accomplishment of this goal requires that students become independent readers. In an effort to help our students achieve this goal, all elementary students participate in the Accelerated Reader (AR) program. This enrichment program provides the opportunity for students' comprehension skills to be assessed.

Each quarter, teachers assign point goals to their classroom students based on their individual reading levels.   As students finish reading books, they are able to take online comprehension quizzes. This provides automated comprehension feedback for students, parents, and the school.
